The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) has unleashed a barrage of lawsuits against Wall Street investment banks and major mortgage lenders. The agency is suing 17 financial institutions, as well as company officers and underwriters, alleging violations of federal securities laws related to the sale of private-label mortgage-backed securities to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. FHFA says the loans underlying the mortgage bonds carried a higher risk than what was disclosed to the GSEs at the time of purchase."
You can run but you can't hide and lots of folks are going to have a bad 2012 trying to 'splain how they sold these bad loans.
